About Sámaalu The Gímaalu, who speak Sámaalu, live in the far south of Katiin just to the east of the Łéndzans, a large mountain range seperating the Céakali from the rest of Katiin. The language is geographically disconnected from the other Zalintang languages. The language has several features which differentiate it from other Zalintang languages, notably having tone and a particularly small consonant inventory.
While definitely a South Zalintang language, it is not clearly closer to the Ginan or Pezan subgroupings. As such, many consider it to be its own branch of the South Zalintang languages, which is how it is listed here.
