About ashlani
píla! ashlani is a personal language for daily use. it has been in the makings since 2012ish but has gone through many forms since then. the past several years has seen it take a more consistent shape. so what it was in 2016 would still be recognizable today.
ashlani, which originally started out as keshan, came from a need for privacy. my life was at a point that little of what I had was mine. I was unable to talk openly with my husband because of the living situation we were in. and privacy practically had no definition. keshan was a way to be able to be, or at least feel, free at the time.
sometime in 2013 as my religious life began to coalesce into something more identifiable, a drive for my language (which at this point could still hardly be called that) to be a part of that became strong. But it wasn't until 2016 that I finally became more serious about ashlani. I tripled my vocabulary that year. In 2018, ashlani has progressed to a point where translations, personal writing, and art comes with relative ease. A lot of art has been made in ashlani at this point in 2022. And I make more everyday. Words are mostly created with need now. And though the rate of word creation has slowed immensely, my drive to keep going remains strong.
