About Ulyan
When the Iya created the artificial world Ulya (or Ulia) they also made, or brought from elsewhere, the language Ulyan. It was the original, and at first only language of Ulya. As the language used by the Iya it has a kind of official or even sacred status.
Other languages of Ulya are related to Ulyan to one degree or another. Mraupsian is a closely related descendent that was created by the Iya Mrogatadak. Periphery is somewhat related and evolved from Ulyan naturally among humans, as is Vlekic. Other languages of Ulya include Xiqwa and Lulian, neither of which derived from Ulyan. Xiqwa was created by the Iya Jgikwïxevek for secret purposes. Lulian is spoken by the Lul. Its origins are unknown.
Ulyan is a mostly fusional, somewhat polysynthetic language. It inflects for five cases, four persons, and four numbers. Verbs are conjugated for four tenses, six aspects, four evidentials, and eleven moods. Pronouns can be incorporated directly into the verb as affixes. Adjectives can be inflected into five degrees of comparison or degree (more, less, most, least, and equal). There are various ways to create new words via derivational affixes, compounding, noun incorporation, etc. Ulyan has a variety of interjections, some of which are similar to "procedure words" used in radio communications.
Word order is generally VSO, but can be somewhat free. Within clauses word order tends to be head-initial, although relative clauses tend to be placed before their referents.
