[wɛr]
war (military conflict)
Etymology
Derives to Dírma ór 'fight'. *Uer is also used as an affix to specify that something is related to or made for the express purpose of combat which implies in uses such as waraxe that combat grew in scale as tribal bands became larger and conflict was starting to be fought by semi-professionals rather than the normal population, this is compounded by the term for soldier or guard only appearing in this time.
