Etymology
From texos auris (gold of the sea)
Texos auris>texauris>teuri>tāli>tali
Salt was worth more than gold and due to its rarity the term was derived from salt being the most precious resource from the sea. Later terms were derived from the status of salt and its association with nobility and wealth. Tala (male form) became used for refrencing cooks and chefs as they did the cooking with ingredients usually being of female declension.
