Etymology
Proto-Qaksan *tes "about, regarding", which split into the two Middle Sangesian words del "to" and de "for" compounded to make this word
This word is still spelled with the original spelling of de "for" in Middle Sangesian, but the modern equivalent of de comes from a variant pronunciation/spelling ze and is thus spelled as such. Notes
this word is less common in informal speech, with the word yelo "to" being used instead
however, the opposite is not true; this word is never used in place of yelo except in stereotypically formal or hypercorrected speech
