[ga'tag.wa]
kill (end a life)
Etymology
EBKSG gatag-ma "tail / whip" + VBZ1 > ga'tag.wa Notes
Originally meant "to hit with severe force", derived from being hit by the powerful tail of a dinosaur; as this was usually enough to kill or at least cripple a human, it took on the meaning of "to kill (quickly"). Also used figuratively for "stopping (somebody else's) plan/action".
