Etymology
From Old Isaani gehiann, roughly meaning "gang up", from the noun gehi (warband), which is in turn a corruption of a common Yien Vuuri group of words such as "geghid"/"gehyid"/etc. referring to a hierarchical group, ultimately from the late Ghivad Tenh'i term "gegh hyut", meaning "pact" or "oath of allegiance", and later "alliance".
