Memphratic is a country on the failed colony planet of Karagon, which has it's own set of years, determined by a K before the year.
Karagon was initially settled in 2185 (K0), as the journey there took 2 years, and the landing procedure was "accelerated" by stray meteor colliding with the landing vessels, causing an immense loss of resources. The colony of Karagon would suffer from growing political tensions due to limited resources and conflicting settler ideologies from differing organisations; these tensions would last 3 years before a two year civil war would break out, ending in 2190 (K5), Memphratic was one of the countries that would be created out of the now balkanised colony. Memphratic was primarily centred around Karagon's eastern mountains and deserts, with a population primarily of European technocrats. This resulted in Memphratic being the most technologically advanced of the Karagon colony breakaways, although highly isolated from it's neighbours, including it's singular civil war era ally, with the reclusive country only being seen at international events, and rarely anything else. With the year of 2200 (K15) arriving, Memphratician scientists falsely discovered the date of when an apocalyptic event would strike Karagon; this caused an immense political and industrial shift towards the "Ascension Project", which resulted in most desert territory being abandoned, and most of Memphratic's civilisation being driven into the mountains, they fully put this focus into effect by 2203 (K18), and begin the hibernation. 2209 (K24) arrived, and it was revealed that the mountain that was transformed into the new Memphratic capital, The Zeroth Point, turns out to be a volcano and causes the third biggest eruption in the planet's history, Memphratic's "Ascension Project" is foiled, as the delicate machinery is detuned, resulting in the creation of imperfect mechanical vessels, and the languages of the people to corrupt together. Memphratic's Prime Minister, dies due to the detuning destroying his brain. A year afterwards, Memphratic opened it's vaults, only to discover that the apocalyptic event never occurred, making the volcanic trauma worthless, and devaluing the transition to inorganic vessels, due to the detuning. With the death of the Prime Minister, Memphratic shifts from a Semi-Constitutional monarchy to a near absolute monarchy and a third empire is declared. With a majority of Memphratic's territory being annexed by the Haymaker's Union, there was a massive public outcry, resulting in an economic miracle of re-industrialisation and militarisation. On an unrelated note, in 2217 (K32) an old lead-lined coffin is delivered to Memphratic from Earth, it is presumed to be a religious relic. Throughout 2224-2227 (K39-K42) Memphratic is forced through 4 years of humiliation, eventually evolving into the self declared "Eighth Ascendancy", as one of the monarchs is presumed to be possessed by an external esoteric entity, who then achieves the entire capitulation of the Haymaker's union in 9 weeks, much to the dismay of democratic nations. Due to the great flood of 2230 (K45), Memphratic becomes an island, as their desert territories are flooded. ✎ Edit Article ✖ Delete Article
