The Yenán Jená writing system is an abugida/ˌɑːbuːˈɡiːdə/ whereby consonants are written first with vowels being formed as diacritics above their accompanying consonant. There are 20 consonants, seven vowel qualities, and one null consonant in Yená. There are also two diphthongs, which do not have separate graphemes in the Yenán orthography.
