About Lengi
Lengi is the spoken language of the Lagak people of the eastern archipelago just a few miles off the coast of the continent of Mahalaku on Gals Iru. The islands have traditionally been a major source of spices, including khespu (similar to ginger or nutmeg), ngokago (similar to cayenne or various types of chilis), and qepula (similar to tamarind), which are used in most Mahalakuan cuisines.
The first known human contact of the Lagak people was when a crashed ship of refugees fleeing the Gals Iru world war were detained by the American agency I.C.E. along with a large group of Guatemalan immigrants and either deported to aforementioned country or, in the case of children under 10, put into the American foster care system and sometimes adopted by (American) human parents. Therefore, as a result of this quirk of fate, most, if not all, Lengi words for Earth species are directly borrowed from Spanish, Garifuna, or any of the assorted Mayan languages native to Central America, most notably K’iche’.
