Its closest relative is the Western dialect, sharing a significant portion of vocabulary, grammatical features, and most phonological processes. In terms of proximity, the Central (Standard) dialect is also a divergence of the Old Northern dialect, and the other two (Southern and South-Eastern) diverged from the Old Southern dialect. NLB notably features word-final retroflexion which is absent in all other dialects.
