Stranolian (ʂɻaɳʊɭɪa:ɳʊ) is an a posteriori language based off of Sicilian. The main difference between the two languages lie within the pronunciation. Stranolian also absorbs more English loanwords while Sicilian absorbs more Italian loan words. Stranolian has more reflexive consonants than Sicilian, and also has less double consonants. One of the phonological rules of Stranolian dictates that a double consonant cannot be following a syllable that starts with a double consonant. The stressed syllable would be preceded by a single consonant if ending with a double consonant but never being preceded by a double consonant and ending in a single consonant if another syllable follows. However, this does not apply to syllables that end with -it if it is historically pronounced as rt (example: offerta -> offeita). Grammar wise passive form is formed with the past participle and the to be verb (èssiri), this is a grammatical borrowing from English. Double negative is obligatory, this is a grammatical borrowing from Hessech. Due to English influence Stranolian has also lost 2nd person plural and medial/distal distinction. Stranolian is unique among the Romance languages because it has developed a system of consonant gradation.
