About Proto North Sakaphian
A(n unwieldy) proto language mostly for deriving other languages from, Proto North Sakaphian is the base for the dominant language family in the north of the continent Sakaphe, on the conworld of Naranda.
While the North Sakaphian languages eventually spread to cover a significant part of Sakaphe, Proto North Sakaphian was spoken on the Šanikan Peninsula, a relatively small area with a Mediterranean to semi-arid to thoroughly arid climate (heading southeastwards across the peninsula) and predominantly scrubby vegetation. The speakers of Proto North Sakaphian were semi-nomadic, stone tool-using, matriarchal hunter-gatherers who believed in semi-corporeal, transient deities.
Fair warning if you look further: this is the first language where I tried to make a naturalistic language and implement features I'd read about—accordingly it's probably my worst: consonant clusters without real phonotactics, absurdly long basic sentences since all the affixes are long, what was initially supposed to be ergative alignment (actually a really weird split alignment... nouns are ergative, verbs accusative), etc. But by the time I'd realized it, some of its descendants were developed enough (and done better) that I've kept it kind of under development/use. It's sort of salvageable, even if it isn't good.
