Nirdnic prohibits having two vowel sounds in a row, even across word boundaries. In case one word ends with a vowel and the next one begins with a vowel, there is an emphatic consonant inserted between them.
There are seven emphatic consonants: ν;δ;τ;ς;ρ;λ;γ
Which one exactly to use is determined using a few rules. The rules apply in the following order (if both rule 1 and 3 apply, rule 1 takes priority):
1. Before ε and η it's always λ
2. Before α it's ρ
4. Around ο it's ς
5. Before ι it's ν
6. After ε, η, ι it's γ
7. Before υ it's τ
8. Otherwise it's δ
E.g. (οχω'δ ωφ - a book) ✎ Edit Article ✖ Delete Article
