Word Role Suffixes
This public article was written by [Deactivated User] on 12 Jul 2017, 00:58.

[comments] The suffix that an Agirowen word has determines its role in the sentence. For example, a word ending in -ren acts as a verb, while a word ending in -ron acts as an adjective. Nouns are a bit more complex, but most nouns used will have -lar on the end. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how these work with some examples, and then give a few important notes to keep in mind about how to decide which to use in trickier situations, especially in regards to things that suffixes alone cannot do in Agirowen.

The first example will use the stem "Bar-" which relates to creatures who are ursine (bear-like) in appearance.

-ten (element/essence): Barten = There exists Ursines; The capability to have Ursine features or properties
-ran (abstract object): Baran = The feeling one gets upon hearing about Ursines or imagining their appearance upon hearing it described
-lar (concrete object): Barlar = A creature or creatures who are Ursine in their appearance. [Most often used noun]

-ren (verb): Baren = To act like a Bear or Ursine would.
-laren (event): Barlaren = The event of someone acting like an Ursine or becoming more Ursine in their appearance; Any holiday or similar significance-marked day dedicated to acting or looking like an Ursine (a potential meaning to this suffix that might never apply to most stems, but it is important to know it potentially can.)

-ron (adjective): Baron = The one that looks most like an Ursine; in an Ursine-like manner
-laron (possessive adjective): Barlaron = Belonging to the bear (or Ursine-looking creature)

-renlar (profession): Someone whose main job is to look or act like a bear (note: this is probably the most off-point word to example this suffix for.)

[This article will be expanded later as needed, but for the most part it shows the main point at hand.]
