5. Numbers
?FYI...
This article is a work in progress! Check back later in case any changes have occurred.

The octal system is used due to Neis and Neh having eight fingers, below are examples of how numbers are written. Note that due to sound shifts the underling arithmetic is slightly obscured but the unchanged orthography for numerals makes it clearer. A legend of non numeric symbols is also given

Legend
Multiply=h (this denotes multiply the number before h by all the number after it unless r is present) (old form is ht from he tal)
Add=r (add the following numbers, this also terminates the multiplication function of h) (from ri)

1-8
I=1
II=2
III=3
JX=4 (half of 8) (J is often used alone to denote 4)
JI=5 (half of 8+1)
JII=6 (half of 8+2)
JIII=7 (half of 8+3)
X=8 (just 8)

9-16
8+however much is needed to reach the number
XI=9 (8+1)
XII=10 (8+2)
XIII=11 (8+3)
XJ=12 (8+4)
XJI=13 (8+4+1)
XJII=14 (8+4+2)
XJIII=15 (8+4+3)
XX or K=16 (8+8) (another version is XJJ but this is not as popular) (XX is usually used when teaching children, while K is more in use amongst adults since they understand the underlying mathematics, it also makes 17-24 simpler)

17-24
KI=17 (16+1)
KII=18 (16+2)
KIII=19 (16+3)
KJ=20 (16+4)
KJI=21 (16+4+1)
KJII=22 (16+4+2)
KJIII=23 (16+4+3)
KJJ or KX or L=24 (KJJ=16+4+4, KX=16+8, L is most common)

This method continues for each interval of eight as follows:
32=S
40=A
48=N
56=D
64=G
72=Ž
80=T
For anything beyond T the standard rules apply as they did for every numeral before; TI=81 TII=82 TXII=90 TL=104 (80+24) [the first triple digit] TT=160 ThXII=800
For quadruple digits; ThXIIrXhLI=1000 (80x10[800]+8x25[200]) (literally 80x8+1+1+8x24+1+1)
