Modern Azen syllables basically break down like so:

(C|SG|FG|Sr|Fl)V(:)(C)

Or at least that's how they're looking right now. Probably there are more allowed coda consonant clusters, just haven't ended up with any yet.

C - any consonant
G - glide /j w/
S - stop /p b t d k g/
F - fricative, not counting affricates /s z ʃ ʒ x h/

Vowel hiatus is very rare, it only occurs in loanwords and numerals.

Consonant gemination only occurs in late loanwords and across morpheme boundaries, e.g. bus 'I hide', bussu 'you will hide'. It does not happen with affricates.

Across syllable boundaries, there can be a maximum of 3 consonants, e.g. zhinpreh 'I swim'.

Cf Old Azen Phonotactics.
