The First Empire of Edonar was founded in 204 FL by a megalomaniac King of Erdonar, Aelêv. His brilliance and competence in military strategy as well as an ability to exploit the weaknesses of his neighbouring nations helped him conquer what was then the 'Known World' and all Kingdoms that humanity created. Aelêv thus crowned himself "Emperor of Mankind". At this point in time, Old Erdonarian was spread all across the newly conquered lands through colonization and education, which was very well developed during the First Empire. Due to the expansiveness of the empire and lack of quick communication, the Old Erdonarian language has developed many different dialects which later became less and less intelligible, eventually becoming separate languages.
Aelêv's son, Aelêv II wasn't as capable or strong leader as his father. The nobles of the old kingdoms used Aelêv II weak personality to give themselves privileges that eventually made the Emperor ellected by the nobles rather than inhereted. However, Aelêv II's son Raenor has managed to be ellected to the position of Emperor after his father's death. This began a pattern in which for four generations of Aelêv the Conqueror's descendants become Emperor. However this would be broken after the death of Raedhan the Stammerer which saw a Tyredin noble of House Enorag elected Emperor. The supporters of the Aelêvian dynasty saw the election as rigged and demanded a recount, yet the Emperor disagreed. Thus, the War of the Ballots began. ✎ Edit Article ✖ Delete Article
