About Aetherian
Backstory: I came up with this language as I was imagining a new faction for the RPG "Civilization: Beyond Earth: Rising Tide". The faction is FIRE (Federazione italiana di ricerca extraterrestre), based out of Italy. FIRE sets up a settlement on Aetheria, an earthlike planet.
Aetherian is a language spoken by the Luminari, a humanoid species inhabiting the planet of Aetheria. This planet is also home to some human settlers, namely those from FIRE (Federazione italiana di ricerca extraterrestre), a faction originating in Italy on Earth. Beginning with the Italians' arrival, the Aetherian language swiftly borrowed scores of words from Italian, most of these having to do with objects and concepts the earthlings brought to Aetheria. (The Italian spoken by the FIRE settlers also includes many Aetherian loanwords, mostly for fauna, flora, objects, etc. not found on Earth.)
