About Proto-Argon
Proto-Argon is the proto-language of the Argon languages, a language family that stretches across most of North and Northwest Celea, a region that is some places flat and some places mountainous, some places cold and some places warm. It is an attempt to fuse two former proto-langs I had into one: Proto-Argotide, inspired by Greek, and Proto-Thvoran, inspired by Germanic (and Icelandic in particular). Those are now daughter languages of the over-arching Proto-Argon.
In general, the Argotide languages more or less conserve the phonology of Proto-Argon but diverge far from it grammatically, while the Thvoran languages conserve the grammar of Proto-Argon but diverge far from it phonologically.
Proto-Argon begins as an unwieldy language with too many too-long words, with awkward diphthongs and clunky consonant clusters, not to mention headache-inducing verb conjugation. It is a gruff, harsh language with an almost entirely voiceless consonant inventory - a language befitting its early speakers (#rekt). Its daughter languages, with millennia at their disposal, will slowly round out the edges like water smoothing out a rock on the shore - even while the speakers sharpen their spears: theirs will be a very bloody, very contentious history.
I won't spend too much time developing Proto-Argon, because frankly I'm more interested in Proto-Argotide and Proto-Thvoran, but I do want them to have a common ancestor. The goal is to eventually derive aidh à-'rcêi [ɪ‿aˠ‿ʔkə͡ɪ], which looks very AESTHETICC from Proto-Argon *hautʰā āurkounī /ɦaʊtʰa: aʊ:r̥kɔʊni:/. So with that, let's begin!

[view] About ArgonThe dominant language family in North and Northwest Celea on Icharon. It comprises two major families: Argotide (inspired by Greek and Italic) and Thvoran (inspired by Germanic), among a handful of smaller ones.
