Àbhradoch is an a priori language spoken on the isolated island of Àbhra. Those who speak it are called the Àbhradar (SGSingular (number)
one countable entity
Àbhradon).

The language was originally (fairly obviously) inspired by Goidelic languages, in particular Scottish Gaelic. Over time it's developed into more of its own unique entity with several changes, including a more complex synthetic grammar, extremely irregular plurals, and Germanic-like separable verb constructions, though many of the original elements remain.

Quick summary of features:
  • SVO word order
  • No nominal cases
  • Irregular plurals for almost everything (neis → nech; duimh → dumhar; càd → càis)
  • Verbs are marked for 7 tensespresent, past, perfect, imperfect, pluperfect, future, future perfect, 4 moodsindicative, subjunctive, conditional, imperative, active/passive voice, and first/non-first person
  • Additional variant verb forms used only when a verb is within a subordinate or relative clause
  • Alienability distinction
  • Subordinating prepositions: sur "near, close to" → sàrr "near [the place] where"
  • "Directive verbs," which are verbs with an accompanying prepositional adverb, similar to Germanic's separable verbs (e.g. "give up")
  • Base-8 (octal) number system
