About New Speek
The function of the language is to use combine Romance- and English-based roots with something that looks a bit like Latin grammar. The idea is to form a language that distinguishes between different levels of gender (Masculine and Feminine) as well as animacy (Animate and Inanimate) while making it an insult to refer to an animate thing using inanimate declensions. Basically, it's a way to communicate about ideas in a way that makes word order less important and one's thoughts about certain inanimate and animate ideas clear. There are, of course, irregular categorisations, but generally, they fall just where you would put them logically.
