About Dnedrian
The Dnedrian language (dnédrilen) /'ɲe.dɾi.lən/ is the language of the Dnedrín, the people ruling the Lakkárdian Empire. The standardized version is used only by the nobility, at court, on official documents etc., whereas the multiethnic population of the Empire uses various simplified versions as linguae francae. The vastness of the Empire, containing about 35,000,000 people, leads to a situation where the simplified dialect might vary from region to region, especially since among the commoners there are two different major language families (Khaelian & Akrodnian) as well as multiple sociolects of the various Bhezdrín (dne.: colour but also race, ethnicity). E.g. most slaves in the Empire are from the Khaélian Empire, since the Lakkárdian Empire fought multiple wars against the directly eastwardly adjacent realm, thus their vernacular version of Dnedrian holds many loanwords from the Khaelian language.
