Formosan Creole (Formosan: Formosa Krêols [foɾmosa.kɾɛols]) is a creole language spoken in Taiwan by around 17,230,000 people as a native language. It is the official language of all media in the Kingdom of Formosa. It is normally written using the Latin alphabet but can also be occasionally be written in Chinese characters by older speakers. It is also the only living Dutch-based creole in the world. The vocabulary mainly consists of Dutch vocabulary with some Spanish and Sinitic vocabulary. i love creoles

[edit] [view] Pên-o Dialêkt (Penghu Dialect)The Penghu Dialect is a dialect of Formosan Creole used in the Penghu Islands. It sometimes favours Hokkien, Hakka, Cantonese, and Mandarin words over Dutch words. There's also some native Austronesian sprinkles in the dialect.
[edit] [view] Tao Dialik (Tao Dialect)The Tao Dialect is a dialect of Formosan Creole spoken on Orchid/Tao Island and involves heavy influence from the Yami Language. The Tao Dialect is mutually unintelligible with Formosan Creole however due to political reasons, it is marked as a dialect. There have been numerous attempts to lift Tao's status to a language but all of these attempts have failed.
