About Hakei
Hakei (also Koi or Kui; natively gu Koit) is the majority language of Samorra, an ethnically-diverse island nation in the South Pacific region. The English name refers to the name of the city of Hakei, from which the literary standard derives, while the modern prestige dialect (and the focus of this work) is centred instead on the capital city, Tansu. These are two varieties of the Eastern Hakeian dialect complex, itself forming a continuum with other branches of the Hakei macrolanguage within the small Samorran language family. While Hakei has influences from Austronesian, there are no established genealogical connections with any languages outside Samorra; as such, like other languages in the wider region, it is sometimes classified as a Papuan language.
