The Sharpa language is spoken primarily by the Sharpa who settled in the present-day Chernihiv and Sumy oblast (Ukraine), who migrated in the 12th century from the territory of the present-day Udmurt Republic (Russia). Over the course of its existence, the Sharpa language became heavily assimilated by Slavic languages and is now an endangered language
