About Kinnese Kinnese is a language spoken by Kinnese people, who form an ethnic group across the upstream and midstream regions of the Kinn river. The language belongs to the Sholaeng language group of the Eastro-Prangosian language family.

One of bases of Kinnese phonology is its strict syllable structure. Kinnese syllables can be divided into two categories, reduced and non-reduced. Reduced syllables consist of a consonant and a following schwa (or just the consonant itself, in some dialects), and they must be attached to a non-reduced syllable. Non-reduced syllables are composed of five elements: the initial consonant, the glide, the vowel, the final consonant, and the tone. Like this:
(Ci) + (G) + V + (Cf) + T

Elements with parentheses are not mandatory to occur in each syllable.

Kinnese words are often monosyllabic, while the combination of a reduced syllable and a non-reduced syllable is also common (i.e. sesquisyllabic). When it comes to creating new words, Kinnese prefers compounding and borrowing. A large part of Kinnese lexicon are loan words from Datsyenese and Joleian, two neighbouring languages of the same language family.

Kinnese is an SOV language. It is considered synthetic despite the ongoing trend of becoming analytical. Aside from affixes, consonantal mutations are also common inflexions (e.g. por to eat, and bor to make someone/thing eat).

Kinnese adopted the Spandali script for writing, an alphabet created by the Datsyenese. One of the earliest written texts dates back to 14 centuries ago, and the language written was named Classical Kinnese. The old language has developed into four dialects, namely Kinnmien, Tann-Gon, Allzan, and Hegham, west to east. Modern Standard Kinnese is based on the Tann-Gon dialect, and adopts the orthography of Early Modern Kinnese, also known as Renaissance Kinnese.
