Species Human/humanoid
About Proto-Ngycetian 30,000 years ago an unmanned Seed-ark landed on a habitable planet in a high-elevation rainforest basin, surrounded on all sides by steep tectonic mountains. This ark contained the DNA of many Terran New World species, including a species of Cebus monkey; these genetically modified monkeys were infused with human DNA, making them sapient, but having no previous culture or language.

The Seed-ark was, itself, sapient, and designed to nurture the newly introduced species into a fledgling ecosystem and society. It was also designed to introduce only basic nouns to the first generation of monkeys before shutting off its language systems, henceforth using only differently pitched beeps to communicate things like feeding times and emergencies. The Seed-ark operated for three Cebus sapien generations, or about 45 years, before permanently sealing* itself off from its environment.

*The Seed-ark is not actually sealed per se, as it beams daily transmissions to an unknown recipent, but these transmissions are encrypted and impossible to translate, so it's effectively sealed, even though you can technically recieve information coming out of it........
