About Niuta Dialect
Wu (Taihu) dialect with a large stratum of words apparently not from any known language family, although several words are reminiscent of Sinitic or Tai-Kadai. Spoken northeast of the Zhoushan Archipelago in Zhejiang Province, on the Niuta Islands. Fluent speakers generally over 60; younger generations can understand but not speak. Published wordlist.
Meta: probably a lot of substratum words are from Ngerupic or Vuuyin Zayxa.
