About Pava'pana 太从! / Lohō! / Welcome!
~
Pava'pana (大九,犬) is a language created to explore societal gender's impact on language as well as grammatical minimalism. For fun, I'm also creating a narrative/history/story of the people who use it. This will include their origins, social progress (fight for rights, government changes, etc) etc.
~
The society of the native speakers is heavily dependent on a social class system. So much so that it replaces conventional gender. This means there are no female/male 3rd person pronouns, but rather, 3rd person pronouns for each class. While biological sex is acknowledged, it doesn't hold much sway and is almost equivalent in importance to hair or eye colour.
~
Pava'pana features a syllabary, simple tense structure, an efficient prefix/suffix system and I try to regularly post maps and other content from the world of Pa'oko.
~
Feel free to read my articles, check out my photos in the gallery, or check out my translations!
~
P.S. Forgive 'w̄', it's a remnant from when the lang didn't have a syllabary and the letter was a /ʋ/ instead of /w/... in the script this autrocity doesn't matter...

[view] About Pāhow̄ōkoThe Pāhow̄ōko or 'Island' is a language family that originates from a group of islanders much like the Polynesians. They believe that the basis of their language was given to them by their god. Pāhow̄ōko languages are heavily dependent on their sylla...
[edit] [view] Tāpō (Modernised)This is less of a dialect and more of a change that happens Pava'pana in the modern era. Due to the rise of internet & communication, the younger generation creates a new set of syllables containing two new letters æ (ɪ) and ǣ (i). These new letters are widely mocked by the older generation (considering that they're not given to the people by their god, but rather created by human beings). However, d the Board of the Management of Pava'pana canonises the new syllables. Find more in the article.
[edit] [view] Pōw̄aw̄ow̄a (Northern)This dialect is spoken by the inhabitants of one of the larger northern islands of Pa'oko. It involves slight changes in consonant pronunciation as well as some alteration to the vowels. It seems to be a bit more ridged than Standard Pava'pana.

Changes Include:
/h/ > /ħ/
/l/ > /ɬ/
/o/ > /ɔ/
/nōk_/ > /ŋ_/ ex: /nuka/ > /ŋa/

ō - is often silent when part of a medial syllable
[edit] [view] Pōw̄awow̄a (Western )This dialect is spoken by the inhabitants of the larger western island of Pa'oko (Far Island). It involves slight changes in consonant pronunciation as well as some alteration to the vowels. It seems to be a bit more ridged than Standard Pava'pana.

Changes Include:
/t/ > /tʰ/
/k/ > /g/

ā - is pronounced as an /ɪ/ which is a vowel between /a/ and /e/
