About Winelandic What if the English won the Battle of Hastings in 1066? What if they then started American colonies in the same century, but those colonies were cut off due to political reasons? What if the Vikings settled into the colonies as well? This language looks at this hypothetical timeline. I've painstakingly evolved this Old English as realistically as possible, with seven main iterations: Colonial Old English, Late Colonial Old English, Early Mid Colonial English, Mid Colonial English, Late Mid Colonial English, Early Modern Winelandic, and Modern Winelandic.

As Old English evolved in our timeline, it eventually became Modern English, with major simplifications. Winelandic is also simpler than Old English, but more complex than our English. It has also gone through sound changes, but different than those of our English. It sounds more Germanic, with a hint of a Scandinavian influence.
