/ˈjilɪnɪs lasˈka:gaʃt̪ə kajaˈgoʷsə/

Wasittian is an isolate language spoken by the Wasitti, a peoples who live within the Lygus Region. As compared to other languages in the area, Wasittian is unrelated save for a few loanwords. During the previous three centuries, Wasittian was affected by repressive policies enforced by a majority Yettisna Council. Legal restrictions were placed on the language, so its use began to decline and more and more words with Wasittian etymology were replaced with those of Yettisna etymology. Currently, the trend has reversed due to a more lenient government. In the Lygus Region, Wasittian is now used as the majority language in schooling and commerce.

The English name 'Wasittian' came from the native term for the language 'Wasitinu̇si', which in turn is a combination of 'was' (speech) and 'nu̇s' (our).

Wasittian has an absence of labial consonants (except w, which is an approximant). Many loanwords which contain m, p, b, v, and f are replaced with either w or h. All nouns and adjectives also double as verbs, most times eliminating the use for 'to be' in a sentence. There are about 8 verb tenses.
