Menu 1. The Long Bois
[edit] [top]The Long Bois

In Standard Delusian, there are two types of long sounds: "Big Vowels" [laxevi abige"i (Laxevi Àbige"i)] and "Pressure Consonants" [tareli pres“trùy (Tareli Preṡtrùy)], neither of which are pronounced distinctly from their regular counterparts in colloquial speech; they are only different in the standardised literary language.
Pressure consonants are held for just long enough to be noticably different from their unmodified counterparts, and they are very simple to write; Simply place a blösbudrel [Blösbudrel (ّ )] above the consonant being extended. Big vowels, however, are a bit more complicated.

Big vowels are written as a corresponding consonant letter and a corresponding vowel mark written on the letter directly before it. They are pronounced twice as long as a normal vowel and are almost always stressed.
For "aa", use an Aalïf (ا).
That's it.
For "ee", use a Yet Elfíx (ى) at the end of a word and with a regular Yet (ي) elsewhere, and place a keesr“a [Keesr"a ( ِ )] on the letter before it, or a double Keesr"a (ٍ ) for "ii".
For "oo", use a xav [Xav (و)] and place an inverted dammee [Dammee (ٗ )] on the letter before it, or a regular Dammee (ُ ) for "uu".
The rule for Aalïf (ا) becoming Aalïf Elfix (ة) still applies when writing "aa".
If "aa" (ـَا) is after any letter that cannot connect to anything to its left, the Aalïf will simply be left out, whilst still keeping the fet“a [Fet“a (َ)]. This does NOT apply with Aalïf Elfix (ة), however.
If a big vowel is used at the beginning of a word, there is no letter to place the vowel mark on, and therefore you must use a placeholder consonant, which is an Aalïf with an Apóseteev placed on it according to the vowel represented, as explained with short vowels in Lesson #1.

Check for Understanding
(Note: Do not use the code point "ی" for "ى" or "ي"; it will not be accepted since they are different Unicode points. The same applies to "ہ" or "ھ" being used for "ه" and "ۃ" for "ة", they are NOT interchangeable!)
Select the correct letter(s) for "Teem".
