As has already been described, Ajatsian has 5 genders. Those genders are reflected by different articles on nouns, but they are also marked on adjectives. There are 5 suffixes, each corresponding to a gender. Those suffixes have to follow the rules of consonant harmony: if the preceding syllable contains an unvoiced consonant, the suffix will use its unvoiced version, and vice-versa.

Tairqen: -lä/-l'ä (eg: meli-in asheqlä, the interesting parent)
Non-Tairqen animate beings: -mä/-m'ä (eg: qaj'-ir bökm'ä, the last bird)
Natural things, body parts: -gä/-kä (eg: zhupe-id aletomogä, the magnificent tree)
Artefacts: -zhä/-shä (eg: r'uq-iz thenuzhä, the new door)
Intangible things: -rä/-r'ä (eg: e*fire-il eqenarä, rare peace)
