Lundian grammar eikala lundiyani

lundian is an SVO language, there are no exceptions

Tenses

lundian has 5 main tenses: present, past, future, conditional and imperfect. Verbs do not conjugate in lundian, instead particles are put at the beginning of the verb to indicate the tense.

Present
There are two types of present tense in lundian: simple and continuous

The simple present tense is used to describe general statements like in English. No particle is used in the simple present tense

i kapa – I speak

The present continuous tense is used to express an action that is actively being done. The verb for to be – lai goes before the verb to make this tense

i lai eden – I am eating

Past
There are two forms of past tense in lundian: simple and continuous past

Simple past is used to generally describe things that happened in the past, the particle ‘lo’ is used for this.

i lo kapa an a – I spoke to him

Recent past Is used to describe things that just happened. ‘mai lo’ is used for this.

a mai lo luran – I just arrived

Future
There are two types of future in lundian: simple and close future

Simple future is used to describe things that will happen in the future. The particle ‘na’ is used for this

i na lura aneila – I will go tomorrow

Close future is used to describe things that are about to happen ‘mai na’ is used for this

i mai na kapa an ale – I am going to/ about to speak to them

Conditional

The conditional tense is used to describe probability, events that could happen. The particles ‘lei na’ I used for this.

i lei na lura nali – i might/ would go there

Imperfect
There are two types of imperfect in lundian: imperfect and continuous past

Continuous past is used to describe an action that was in the process of happening. To do this you use the past tense of ‘lai

i lo lai eden – i was eating

Note: most of the time ‘lo lai’ is shortened to ‘lwai

Imperfect is used to describe an action that used to happen or was happening. The particle ‘talei’ is used for this
