The world in which  Sanguine Rythulian is spoken (among several other languages of mine) orbits around Apisa, which is known to us as HD 156668. To the people of Lai, Apisa is seen as the world of the gods, a sort of Mount Olympus analogue. 4 other planets are visible to them, and an additional 3 exist, which will go undiscovered for a few hundred years. The most important of these planets is Tipi, known to humans as HD 156668b, which is visible most of the time, orbiting extremely close to Apisa. It only has an orbital period of 1.26 days, and is a real planet; it is seen as a guardian entity, preventing mortals from reaching Apisa after death. The other three planets, Poko, Sosina (HD 156668 c), and Aniwata, are seen as lost souls of dead kings, not very different from the myriad stars in the sky in except for their size, motion, and importance.

Want some stats? Here are some stats!

Apisa

AKA: HD 156668
Type: K3 V
Surface temperature: 4850°K
Mass: 0.77 solar masses
Radius: 0.72 solar radii
Luminosity: 0.23 solar luminosity
Age: 8.6 billion years
---
Apisa is a real star, 79.3 light years away from us: it is a main sequence star, quite a bit smaller than our own sun. It's cooler and dimmer, and is light tinted slightly orange. It will live much longer than the sun, despite being nearly twice its age. In Laia culture, it is the land of the gods, where all deities come from, and where most reside.

Tipi

AKA: HD 156668b
Planet type: Rocky planet
Average surface temperature: ~1000°K
Mass: 3.10 Earth masses
Radius: ~12000km
Distance from Apisa: 0.0211 AU
Orbital period: 1.26 days
Rotational period: 1.26 days (tidally locked)
---
Tipi is a real planet, and would be horrible to live on. It is very visible from the ground on Origin and Ńana. In Laia culture, Tipi is a colossal beast, protecting the gods from any would-be invaders of their land.

Poko

Planet type: Rocky planet
Average surface temperature: ~450°K
Mass: 0.24 Earth masses
Radius: ~4200km
Distance from Apisa: 0.21 AU
Orbital period: 40 days
Rotational period: 2.59 days
---
Poko is the first of these that I made up. It has no atmosphere, and is a ball of grey burning rock. Not a great place to live either. In Laia myth, Poko was the ruler of the first Jani kingdom, killed in a revolt. Their corpse was burned at night, which, to the people of Lai, is seen as a condemnation the Sky Above. Poko remains wandering the sky, but is much brighter than most other lost souls.

Ńana

Planet type: Rocky planet
Average surface temperature: 21°C
Mass: 0.95 Earth masses
Radius: ~8020km
Distance from Apisa: 0.494 AU
Orbital period: 142 days
Rotational period: 8.8 hours
---
Ńana is one of two habitable and inhabited planets. It has an atmosphere comparable to Earth's. In Laia culture, Ńana is seen as heaven; when somebody dies, they are to be cremated on a funeral pyre while Ńana eclipses Apisa so their smoke can rise up and reach Ńana to live on there. Failure to do so will damn you to the Sky Above, the endless stars each their own lost soul. Our sun is among these.

Origin

Planet type: Rocky planet
Average surface temperature: 28°C
Mass: 0.73 Earth masses
Radius: ~4020km
Distance from Apisa: 0.494 AU
Orbital period: 142 days
Rotational period: 8.8 hours
---
Origin is the other of the inhabited planets. It is mutually tidally locked with Ńana, forming a binary system of planets. They are very close to each other, the distance between land only about 13000km, which results in Ńana seeming to be 60x bigger than our moon is in the sky. In Laia culture, Origin is... the world. It's where Lai is.

Sosina

Planet type: Rocky planet
Average surface temperature: 25°K (-248°C)
Mass: 2.12 Earth masses
Radius: ~13500km
Distance from Apisa: 1.56 AU
Orbital period: 2.2 years (811 days)
Rotational period: 2.7 days
---
Sosina is the last of the real bodies in this system, though I did make up the composition. A rocky world covered in water-ice, Sosina would have been potentially habitable, had it only been a bit closer to Apisa. Oh well. In Laia myth, Sosina was a legendary bard, one whose musical talent was so great that they were said to have composed bird songs themselves. The god of the musical arts, Mikijo, was envious, and burned Sosina alive during the day and damning them to the Sky Above.

Aniwata

Planet type: Gas giant
Average surface temperature: 37°K(-241°C)
Mass: 0.6 Jovian masses (192 Earth masses)
Radius: 1.7 Jovian radii (120000km)
Distance from Apisa: 5.1 AU
Orbital period: ~13 years (4668 days)
Rotational period: 15.2 days
---
Aniwata is a ringed gas giant. In Laia myth, Aniwata was the leader of the gods: although its power was unmatched, so too was its tendency for destruction, and its arrogance was even greater. Unable to be killed, every god conspired to create a poison that would put Aniwata to sleep for eons. Pikino, Aniwata's child, delivered it a drink containing the poison, the god downing the drink and going into an eternal slumber. It was cast into the Sky Above where it sleeps to this day.

The rest of the planets are too small to be seen by the naked eye. I'll write about them soon, but here are short blurbs:

Jofi: Gas giant, 11.7 Earth masses, 10.8 AU. First planet to be discovered, but is too far away and too dark to be seen without aid.
Kikasasi: Rocky planet, 1.1 Earth masses, 25 AU
Pińo: Rocky planet, 0.25 Earth masses, 48 AU
