Astroxian Adjectival Accusative

-What is it ?

Adjectival accusative is, shockingly enough, a case used with adjectives when referring to the subject of a transitive verb. It is shown by adding a suffix to the adjective, which can either be -el, -al or -oul. Unfortunately, there are no definite rules to determine which of these three inflexions applies to which adjective, and large dialectal variations can be observed, so they require to be learnt by heart. Here is an example of an adjective and all its possible infexions:
ji, al (happy)SGSingular (number)
one countable entity
PLPlural (number)
more than one/few
NOMNominative (case)
TRANS subject, INTR argument
jijit
ACCAccusative (case)
TRANS direct object; patient
jialjialt

When to use it ?

The adjectival accusative ought to be used when:

-the adjective refers to the direct object of a transitive verb:

"Iē gēsro del apel routoul" I eat the red apple.

But also when:

-The adjective is an epithet adjective describing a constant characteristic:

"Li et altoul" He is tall.

It may not be used when:

-The adjective refers to a characteristic that recently appeared/disappeared/changed and/or that may soon appear/dissapear/change:

"Hüek, des apel et fiērt. Tēmen, lot seret rout" Today the apple is green. Tomorrow it will be red.

More :

This declension allows the adjective to replace the subject of a transitie verb when this subject is already knows and a particular characteristic needs to be emphasized. The adjective may also be even more emphasized by being moved to the beginning of the sentence:

"Kël apel gēsras tē ? Routoul iē gēsro" Which apple are you eating ? I am eating the red one.
