About Eldermewling
Eldermewling, Old Mewling, or the Old Language (Myukox [mʲuˈkox]) was the earliest recorded form of the Mewling language, spoken primarily on Myumar Island and on the supercontinent of Nuna by the first mew settlers. It was considered to be the first language of Earth, having developed from the sparsely-constructed Proto-Mewling language. It is a polysynthetic agglutinative language with free word order, SOV serving as the default. Nouns are inflected for case while verbs are inflected for tense, mood, aspect, and agree with both the subject and the object, allowing it to be a pro-drop language. Its sound inventory is much simpler compared to its modern form. It is mutually unintelligible with Modern Mewling, but Sersamish remains roughly intelligible due to how little Sersamish evolved. Eldermewling was written in Old Runes, a morphographic logography where each character conveyed etymological meaning instead of pronunciation.
