About Cybertronian
Ever been disappointed in the fact that Cybertronian is just a cipher in most Transformers canon? Me too.
This language is my attempt to make a relatively simple, but still alien Cybertronian language to be used in my Transformers fanfic and just for fun.
No relation to the other Cybertronian conlang on this site.
Features:
- Analytical, but makes extensive use of compound words.
- Very lenient syllable structure. Syllables can exist without vowels, although that's typically not the case, and words can begin with blends of many consonants.
- Two prominent dialects, one for Autobots (with more guttural and clicky sounds, ala cars) and one for Decepticons (with more soft whimsy sounds, ala jets). These two dialects have sub-dialects. This originates from the large amount of separation time (like North/South Korean, but very larger). They have slang terms. Please keep in mind that I don't use ConWorkShop's dialect feature. I just think not using it is more streamlined for this conlang.
- Mainly based in the Animated continuity.
- Present and future tense only, present forms by default. If past really has to be indicated, balo'kk (before) can be said.
- Code-switching between factions, typically by Decepticons.
- A significant amount of onomatopoeia-based vocab, a lot of it based off of obstruents/consonant clusters. (the word for "transformer" itself is tskanga, coming from the canon transformation sound)
- No word for it/its.
- SOV order, with the second person pronoun (etoks/etik/etok in Autobot, esri/esr/ess in Decepticon) being suffixed to verbs and nouns with a glottal stop no matter what. For more information, check the pronouns briefer article.
- The major inspirations for this language are the gibberish spoken by Cybertronians in the Bay movies, Tagalog, Inuktitut, Akkadian, Ainu, a few other languages, and an assortment of presumably Cybertronian words that have existed in the Transformers canons.
