Language type Proto-Conlang
Species Human/humanoid
About Elshen Elshen is a proto-conlang set in the world of Rahndel. Rahndel is a post-post-apocalyptic earth-like low-fantasy setting where humanity was brought to the brink of extinction and only managed to survive in refuges. These refuges were slowly destroyed except for one: Silesya. Located on the peninsula between a Caspianesque sea and an Aralesque sea this refuge was the sole bastion of humanity following the blank era. The language was developed by a group of individuals in the refuge of Silesya. Numerous individuals who either had power (King and Queen), linguists, or oversaw specific departments (Head of Medicine, Head of Engineering, Head of Agriculture, etc...) were consulted in the creation of the language. The intent of this language was to give a way for the numerous peoples of the refuge to communicate. Before its creation linguistic differences were one of the main points of contention among the populace - linguistic groups lived with each other and fought with others for resources (this resulted in some refuges dying off due to civil war). After the creation and intensive promotion of the language most of the populace spoke it. When the world calmed down enough for migration, Elshen was the sole language used by humanity; thus in the new age (~7000 years) all languages descend from Elshen.
