About Feyan
Last Updated: 27/01/2022
Fyehnusín is a constructed auxlang for the citizens of the Felméye Union, which is a nascent Fyeh state characterised by its secularism and technological advancements, as well as its leaderless parliamentary aristocratic government. It contains elements from all four native languages of Berda'án, which are of the same family but mutually unintelligible. As it is an auxlang, it does have a standard pronunciation but speakers are free to change some phonemes to suit their native pronunciation, such as /u/→/y/, /ɾ/→/ʁ/ or /e/→/ə/ in unstressed final syllables.
Fyehnusín is agglutinative, as it is meant to be clear to follow by the Fyeh. The basis of all words is comprised of "ideoms", roots that behave as nouns but also take multiple affixes in order to indicate different parts of speech, case inflections, occupation, etc. All ideoms can take all possible affixes, but the result does not always have literal meaning. Syntax is quite free due to Fyehnusín being highly inflected; SVO is most common but all other orientations are allowed as a means to move the emphasis. Descriptive words (adjectives, etc) may be placed in either direction of the word being described for different effect. Lastly, Fyehnusín has an honorifics system of five ranks, ranging from affection to worship. Each of these ranks comes with a suffix, whose use is often considered socially mandatory.
This language is grammatically functional, but there is still a lot of vocabulary to be filled.
