About Monango
Welcome to the new Monaŋo Moraŋo Monåŋo Monaŋo Manaŋu language page!
Simplistic naturalistic proto-language of the badass raptor-riding, tiger-hunting, surfboarding people of the Overside tropics, known for their skilled sailors and exotic knives. Part of a much larger worldbuilding project.
Grammatically it's mostly inspired by Malayo-Polynesian languages, Japanese and cool things I found on Wikipedia :b
I swear I'm not ripping off Sangesian
I know the flag and the small inventory and the morphosyntactic alignments are similar, but it's a coincidence I swear.
Includes:
-Fluid-S alignment (patientive-default).
-Lots of rereduplication and infixes, which won't generate anything weird or irregular when I evolve it.
-AVS (active-verb-stative) normally, but VAS for commands.
-Ŋeŋeŋiŋoŋu (beat that ngigu)
-Glo'al stop
-The same word can function as a noun, adjective or verb (i.e. Hale, ash. Hale, black. Hale, to cremate or reduce to ashes.)
-Whistlin'
-Grammatically it's mostly isolating, but as far as derivational morphology goes it's more oligosynthetic.
-Really fun logography with colors, weird writing directions and cartouches everywhere! I'm sure it won't be difficult to make a font for it!
Very WIP, as you can tell by "New" and "1 Word".
Neither very head final nor head initial, word order varies based on the sentence type, adjectives after nouns, postpositions, possessor after possessee, verb before auxilliary, classifiers, numerals and articles before nouns. Stress is fixed on the first syllable, and is non-contrastive.
Currently working on the phonology.
When a word is anglicized or a standard keyboard must be used, the letters <ā>, <ē>, <ī>, <ō>, <ū> and <ŋ> are written <aa>, <ee>, <ii>, <oo>, <uu> and <ng>.
