About Old Neapolitan
Old Neapolitan is a linguistic reconstruction of the Neapolitan language spoken by Giovanni Trentin in the 15th century (he's a fictional character of my series Biverse Theory, by the way). Old Neapolitan, mixed with other dialects such as Sicilian, Venetian, and Tuscan would give birth to Old Regentish, which would eventually become Regento-Meridese , a dialect continuum with several mutually intelligible dialects spoken throughout the Biverse, the Gayverse and Arusia fictional universes.
The method I use to reconstruct it is the following: I try to compare a Neapolitan term to its Vulgar Latin. For example, the word for ear is recchia. Then I compare it to Latin: auricula or oric(u)la. Then I guess the evolution of the word, step by step: oːrɪk(ʊ)la → orekla → *orekkja → *ərekkja → *rekkja → *rekkjə. I can then suppose that *orekkja or *ərekkja (I don't know if vowel reduction already existed in older forms of Neapolitan, though) could be the proto-forms that gave birth to modern /rekkja/.
