About Chokkou Chinese
中口口亏闩仁客好!

(`chok-kou-kou-tsat'pak.ng/gap'hei, welcome to the chokkoukou page!) Inspired by my recent trip to China, and particularly by my trip to Zhangjiajie, I decided to create a natlang that is somewhat related to Middle Chinese. Middle Chinese is the closest relative to the `Chok-kou-kou language. Unlike Mandarin, 中口口 has final "stop" consonants that have no audible release. These "stop" consonants are present in many of the other dialects of Chinese. Being isolated in the mountains for many years has led this language to go down a completely different path from the other Chinese/Sinitic languages. Once the Tang dynasty fell, the people of middle China began to isolate themselves until their language had completely changed. Based on the change of the ideograms, the people of central china (中人)or `chok.gang went through a major "spelling" reform, where many of the characters who had lost their meaning were changed. That is why you get 仂 for he (person + strong) instead of 他 (person + also). The character for strong is the bottom part of the character for man (男) in `chok-kou-kou, and got simplified to 力 in modern 中口口. Another interesting feature of the language is it's unique tones. There exist the three simple tones in Mandarin (High level, falling and rising), but the falling is a high falling and the rising is low rising. The tones that `chok-kou-kou has that Mandarin does not is a low level, instead of the low bouncing, and a long mid tone, instead of the Mandarin 5th tone. Another feature is the sentence order, SOV. The people of the region found the SOV order is more practical to use, so they decided to adopt it into their language. I hope that you enjoy learning a little bit about chokkoukou!
