It is an Indo-European language with a heavy substrate influence. Its speakers, the Pyltyhvehanqasqasia, are divided into the Marepladvas (coastal dwellers), who are mostly agriculturally-dominant agropastoralists and sea mammal hunters, and the Kwarpladvas (mountain dwellers), who are mostly pastorally-dominant agropastoralists and terrestrial game hunters.
