Växárai has several major categories of prose: Pure Classical Chinese (set essays like baguwen), Native Style Classical Chinese (essay forms based on native patterns), Court Växárai (records and histories), and Vernacular Växárai (stories and anecdotes). Note: Vernacular does not mean the current language of the masses but rather the informal language used in court and understandable to an extent when read by the masses.
Växárai has a great deal of synonyms due to its many loanwords and compounds so the metre of poems can be altered freely. When composing and reading Chinese poetry, a different poetic reading is used than the regular Chinese reading of characters to preserve the exact sound and tone of a character.
There are three divisions of Växárai poetry, Classical Chinese, Court Växárai, and Vernacular.
The same readings apply for Chinese religious texts, and a different set of readings was also devised for Sanskrit texts. Scriptures from the native religion are written in Archaic Växárai, which has its own writing system and rules.
