Once the world was covered by ocean. Underneath the clear blue water, life flourished. Fish, sharks, turtles all lived together in prosperity. But their prosperity was diminishing. They were exhausting the resources of their world. So the animals of the ocean decided that they would see what was beyond their watery realm, that they would find a new world if there was one, a world where they could live. So they swam to the surface, an army of aquatic creatures, and when their heads broke through the waves they saw nothing but water, water everywhere, as far as the horizon. The sky was blue, blue like the ocean. The animals of the water took this to be a sign that they should return, and so they did, making the sky far above them once more.

Some animals were unsatisfied. They thought that there must be something above the waves, where they could live anew, where they could prosper once more. These animals called themselves men, and they swam up, up into the sky, and found nothing, nothing more than the ocean and the sky. Then one man, Eo, had an idea. He would pile up dirt and sand, make a giant mound, up into the sky; and he would make more of these, and he would make a home for men, where they could prosper forever. And he did so, and men prospered.
