[edit] [top]Introduction

The Zetaha or Zetakha script (from Kasewayan zėtaha zətaha [zəˈt̪axa] ‘set of lines’) is a writing system used to write several languages spoken upon western Dawera, including all Desanian languages, Nesyanian, Southern Tazuro and more.

Zetaha was invented in early Middle Ages in the Kaseyu Kingdom (modern day  Kasewaya); it descends from the Old Desani syllabary. Around the 14th century, it was adapted to write the early forms of the Nesyanian language, and soon replaced the Tazuro abugida used to write the Southern Tazuro language. The script took its modern form between the 17th and the 18th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, various minority languages, like Keranian, began to be written in extended Zetaha as well.
Technically, Zetaha is an alphabet written left to right. It has no capital letters. Various calligraphy styles can differ a lot from the printed version of the script.

The Zetaha script is the only official writing system in Kasewaya, Nesyania, Inwez, Chilemin and Zaloma, and one of the two official writing systems used in Tazul.

In Kasewaya, Zetaha is sometimes used to write Northern Tazuro, a language usually written in its own abugida script.

The Rannyei language of central Nesyania, spoken by a semi-nomad tribe, is mainly an oral language with no significant literary works created in it and even though it can be functionally written in the Zetaha script, the orthography remains rather unstandardized (eg. <ai ei> vs. <ay ey> for diphthongs, spelling of loanwords containing foreign sounds, etc.).
