About Nithalos Nithalos is the language of Nithalosiä. Nithalosia is country comprising of the mainland, and the island of Seret off the coast. The main spoken language in Nithalosia is Nithalos, with Seretian coming in second as spoken in Seret and on the coastal city of Yamvođ. There is one main variant of Nithalos, spoken in the southern state of Govđa by the name of Nizalus - however Nithalos remains the official language.

The language was originally based on Japanese with some Russian and a few a priori elements added. As time has gone on, a lot of the Japanese elements have changed be more a priori-like, although a lot of the original Japonic vocabulary still exists today.

Nithalos has a fairly simplistic grammatical model with a large proportion of meaning derived through context. Some key features of Nithalos:
  • The syntax follows a SOV pattern, although SVO is sometimes possible (stative) and OSV in some relative clauses.
  • The language is highly pro-drop, only requiring a pronoun/subject to be used when the topic of discussion changes.
  • There are no genders, no grammatical numbers, no marked definiteness in the language.
  • There are 4 cases (nom, gen, acc, dat) + 1 contraction nowadays considered a case (stat).
  • There are a large number of postpositioned particles that Nithalos employs to give extra meaning to nouns.
  • The verbs are agglutinative and take suffixes for polarity, tense, voice, mood, aspect, and other syntactical morphemes.
  • There is a three way split in tenses between past tense, present/present continuous/future realis, and future irrealis.
  • Adjectives are able to conjugate much like verbs, while also being able to decline as adjectives.

Nithalos has a conscript, which in the modern day is mostly used for ceremonial purposes. Below is a sample of the cursive script that uses each letter at least once:
